The Calixtus Society

The value of a Lasallian education is known throughout the world. St. John Baptist De La Salle, the Patron Saint of Teachers, would be proud that his legacy is alive today in more than 80 countries and thriving here in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, at our own Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.

The Calixtus Society is named for Brother Calixtus Peter, first Principal (1909-1913) of St. Augustine. Reflecting back, most alumni from Bishop Loughlin and St. Augustine will agree that their Catholic education created the foundation needed to succeed in life. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School continues to build that same foundation with today's student body.

Our common Lasallian heritage bonds us in a unique and profound way. The stained glass in our chapel and Lancer Hall, both located on the first floor, are reminders of the great Augustine tradition. The annual Brustman scholarship is a wonderful tribute to the legendary Ray Brustman and makes it possible for deserving young men to enroll. Support from St. Augustine alumni is essential to our future sustainability as a leading Catholic high school in Brooklyn. Calixtus Society members recognize that our long-term financial health is paramount, and have included Bishop Loughlin in their estate plans. Making a planned gift achieves many goals. When you make a bequest to Bishop Loughlin, you enter a covenant to benefit future generations of students. Also, planned gifts reduce your burden of income, capital gains, or estate taxes.
